Amazon deserves credit for the kindle idea and the new Kindle DX.
That said, I think an Apple tablet (if Apple builds one)would be able to do most if not all that the new kindle can do, and also be a full note writing and drawing tablet as well as a highly portable computer with lots more memory than the 3.3GB kindle memory.
It could even have cell phone and wireless data capabilities. It might not even be tied to AT&T.
The future looks good.
Could the new kindle be surpassed by a Mac Tablet Computer?

I must say I love my kindle DX (K-DX). I also love my ipod touch and can get my kindle books on it too via the kindle app. What is cool is that they stay in sync so i can be reading a book on the K-DX. If I pick up the ipod and lauch the kindle app it will put me right at the place in the book I was on the K-DX! (The ipod must be connected to a hotspot for this to work)
ReplyDeleteThe K-DX has free 3G cellurar wifi access to get content from Amazon. The e-paper display is extremely sharp, and only consumes power when the page is refreshed so with wifi off ( reading not shopping) it uses very little power. I can use it for several days without charging it. It is also less fatiguing to read from the kindle's passively lit display and I can read it outside. It was easy to read it outside in Florida on a sunny day in July ! I can't say that for my HTC touch pro cellphone suckadog iphone wannabee ... or my Ipod touch.
For reading though reach for the Kindle. The K-DX is truly a specialized device designed to replace books not other electronic devices. I use the K-DX at my desk to read comptuer books while i use a desktop comptuer.
I'd still love to have a sleek mac tablet!
Anyway you can read kindle books on an iphone or itouch. I tried out the quality there first myself. When got I the kindle It had all the kindle books already on it!
